Tickets and prices

  • Tickets for The Flåm Railway can normally be purchased up to 120 days before departure.

    Some package tours may be available for purchase earlier in advance.

  • No, tickets are only valid for the departure specified on the ticket.

  • Yes, Eurail/Interrail passes with an active travel day give a 30% discount on ordinary single tickets. Such tickets can be purchased at entur.no , at ticket offices at railway stations in Norway and on vy and entur's customer telephones.

  • No, there is no ticket office or ticket machine at Myrdal.

  • The roundtrip price is applicable to journeys Flåm - Myrdal - Flåm. If you book Myrdal - Flåm - Myrdal, you must buy 2 one-way tickets.

  • If the departure you want to travel on is far in the future, cancellation may result in tickets becoming available. However, we recommend that you plan your trip with another departure where you can buy a ticket. It is not possible to sign up for a waiting list for available tickets.

  • No, you don't.

  • No, the seats on The Flåm Railway are not divided into first and second class.

Stations and stops

  • A journey with The Flåm Railway takes about 55 minutes each way.

  • No, there is no road to Myrdal.

  • The distance from the port to Flåm station is approximately 250 meters.

  • We recommend the first connection between The Flåm Railway and the Bergen Line, and the first return if traveling Flåm - Myrdal - Flåm. Myrdal station has a waiting room and a seasonal café, and is a good starting point for mountain hikes. Apart from this, there are no major attractions.

  • Yes, there is a parking lot right next to the station.

  • Yes, the train has a 5-minute stop by Kjosfossen waterfall, where you can get off the train.

  • The Flåm Railway stops at all stops that are in operation. You must inform the conductor if you are getting off at a stop where the train does not make a fixed stop. Stops that are not fixed are marked with an "x" in the timetable. If you are boarding the train at such a stop, you must present yourself on the platform when the train arrives so that the driver can see that you are boarding the train.

  • No, there is only one road down the valley and it is well indicated.

  • Yes, there are lockers at the customer center at Flåm station.

Travel by bike

  • Yes, you can bring a bicycle and/or bicycle trailer on board The Flåm Railway by purchasing a bicycle ticket(s). If you wish to travel with a bicycle out of the ordinary, such as a hand bike or tandem bike, please contact us at info@flamsbana.no

  • ‍You must travel on the same departure as your bike. The bike must be unlocked and without luggage. It must be marked with a completed bicycle tag that can be picked up at Flåm station.

  • It takes four to six hours to walk from Myrdal to Flåm. We recommend setting aside 2-3 hours to cycle down the valley. This gives you plenty of time to complete the trip at a safe and leisurely pace, with scheduled breaks. We also recommend the package from Norways Best, where you take the train to Vatnahalsen or Myrdal, walk down the steepest part of the route (approx. 3.5 km) to Kårdal, where you will be given a bike to cycle the rest of the way to Flåm.

  • You can buy all tickets at Vy: https://www.vy.no/. If you have a bicycle with you, you must book space for this as well. Please note that some departures on The Bergen Line have few bicycle spaces.

Practical info and facilities

  • There are up to 2 wheelchair spaces on each departure. You can buy a return ticket with a reservation for such a seat through Norway's best. If a wheelchair user has purchased a ticket through other operators, please contact us about this at info@flamsbana.no as soon as possible.

    The maximum size of the wheelchair is 70 × 120 cm, and the wheelchair may not weigh more than 300 kg including the user.

    Some stops are not accessible for wheelchair users, such as Kjosfossen. Nor is it possible to see the waterfall from the carriage that has a wheelchair space when the train stops here. There are no toilets accessible for wheelchair users on the train, but there are accessible for wheelchair users at Flåm station and Myrdal station.

  • Yes, all dogs can travel for free with The Flåm Railway.

  • No, there are no catering facilities on the train.

  • Yes, you can bring luggage such as suitcases, bags and backpacks. If you are bringing a bicycle and/or a bicycle trailer, you must purchase a bicycle ticket(s).
