On November 3, 2026, Fretheim Hotel welcomed guests to a book party on the occasion of Vendepunkt, the new book by Norwegian author and journalist Kai Martin Brekke.
The book tells the story of the Flåm Railway and the local initiative that led to the railway returning to local hands in 1997. This was a decisive turning point for Flåm, and the start of an adventurous tourism development that has helped shape the village into the world-renowned destination it is today.
This evening, guests gathered to explore the history, people and decisions behind this very special journey. Turning Point provides an exciting insight into how local engagement and initiative helped shape the future of Flåm and create a legacy that continues to shape the destination today.
It was a great evening where we got to celebrate local history and the people behind Flåm's remarkable development. A big thank you to Kai Martin Brekke and everyone who made the trip to Fretheim Hotel!
