Flåm Utvikling acquires Cafe Rallaren

Flåm Utvikling AS has acquired Cafe Rallaren AS, the company that runs the cafe and bike rental at Myrdal station.

The reason for the acquisition is that Flåm Utvikling wants to help develop the customer experience and facilities at Myrdal station.

-"I see a need to upgrade the customer area as a result of increased traffic. It is difficult for a third party to create development without ownership or lease agreements at the stations. By acquiring Cafe Rallaren, we are in a position to invest in facilities and services for our guests," says Sivert Bakk, CEO of Flåm Utvikling.

Sisters Marit and Beate Bjørnestad have run the café for 17 years. Beate will continue as manager of the café, while Marit is retiring.

-"They have done a fantastic job for many years. Now we're going to further develop what they've built up, and we're very happy to have Beate on board. In the short term, there will be minor adjustments to the operation, but over the course of the year we want to improve the year-round service. We'll have to come back to you to find out exactly what upgrades are in store for our guests," says Bakk.
