Would you like to help run a café in the middle of the mountains?

The train slows down at Myrdal station. Around you, the high mountains lie open and raw, with weather and light changing throughout the day. Here, 867 meters above sea level, the The Bergen Line and The Flåm Railway – one of Norway's most spectacular hubs.

Every year, around one million travelers from all over the world pass through here. They are on their way to the fjords, the mountains and the experiences they have long dreamed of. Many of them stop by your place. For a coffee. For a little warmth. For a respite on their journey.

This is everyday life at Cafe Rallaren in Myrdal.

A role with responsibility, freedom and trust

The Flåm Railway AS is now looking for a permanent full-time employee who will help shape the experience of Cafe Rallaren, and who will be given expanded responsibility in the daily operations. You will act as a deputy for the department manager when needed and are an important part of the everyday life in the cafe.

In practice, this means that you:

• meet people from all over the world with warmth and curiosity

• creates calm, flow and a good atmosphere – even when it's busy

• Take responsibility for your integrity, whether you work alone or with others.

For those of you who like to take ownership

This is not the job for those who wait for instructions. This is the job for those who see what needs to be done – and do it.

Maybe you like to bake when time allows. Maybe you're good at visual details, signs, or communication. Maybe it's just about the way you meet people.

The important thing is that you use your strengths where they make sense, and enjoy the freedom that comes with responsibility.

Who do we think you are?

You are confident, mature and independent. You enjoy practical work, including cleaning and physical effort. You love people, good service and hospitality – and you like to make things nice around you.

It is an advantage if you have a few years of experience in service, a café or similar, but not a requirement if you are the right person. You must be fluent in a Scandinavian language and English.

Myrdal station is about an hour's train ride from both Flåm and Voss. It is natural that you live in the area around Flåm/Aurland or Voss and take the train to and from work.
